Specialist physiotherapy led strength training (maximum 4 participants)
Held at Gibson Studios
Have you noticed you're slowing down? Finding stairs harder than they used to be? Struggling to get up from a chair, feeling less steady on your feet, or worrying about falling?
These are common changes as we get older—but they are not something you simply have to accept.
Our Strong & Independent classes are specifically designed for adults aged 70 and over who want to improve their strength, balance and confidence. Whether you've had a fall, are worried about falling, or simply want to stay active and independent for as long as possible, these classes are designed with you in mind.
Every session is led by an experienced physiotherapist, meaning exercises are individually adapted to your abilities, medical conditions and goals. With a maximum of just 4 participants, you'll receive close supervision, personalised coaching and plenty of encouragement.
Research shows that progressive strength and balance training can:
Reduce the risk of falls by up to 23–30% when performed regularly.
Improve walking speed and confidence.
Make everyday activities such as climbing stairs, getting out of a chair and carrying shopping much easier.
Increase muscle strength, which naturally declines with age if we don't challenge it.
Improve balance and reaction times.
Help maintain independence and reduce the likelihood of needing assistance with daily activities.
Improve bone health, helping reduce the risk of fractures.
Boost confidence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Many people tell us they simply want to keep doing the things they love, walking the dog, gardening, travelling, playing with grandchildren or living independently in their own home.
That's exactly what this class is about.
It's never too late to become stronger. In fact, research shows that adults in their 70s, 80s and even 90s can make remarkable improvements in strength, mobility and independence with the right programme.
This isn't just an exercise class—it could genuinely change how you move, how you feel and how confidently you live your life.
